Austin Comedy Film Festival

 I couldn’t be happier with the success of “Such A Deal,” the short comedy film that I co-wrote with director, Dionna McMillian. It was the official selection of 12 film festivals, and won Best Comedy Short at the Florida Shorts and Phoenix Short film festivals.

Such A Deal is finishing out its festival circuit run at the Austin Comedy Film Festival.

It was such an honor and a pleasure working with everyone on Such A Deal. Thanks to all who worked on this film, supported it, and who came along for the fun ride. Thank you Dionna for believing in this wacky story and for, well, everything. I couldn’t have asked for a better director and co-writer.

McMinnville Short Film Festival

What a great way to start 2022! “Such A Deal,” a comedy that I co-wrote with Dionna McMillian @dionnafilm (who is also the director) is an official selection of the 2022 McMinnville Short Film Festival 🎬 @macfilmfest

It will screen in-person at 6PM, Friday, February 11 in the Drama/Comedy #3 block. I’m so excited that @dionnafilm will be there.

McMinnville is located in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley Wine Country so filmmakers can expect wine-centric receptions. Awesome all around!

Chain NYC Film Festival

The other night in NYC was such a wonderful experience: My short comedy, “Such A Deal” that I co-wrote with director Dionna McMillian @dionnafilm, screened at the Chain Film Festival @chainfilmfestival. We had a great audience in the “NYC Films” block - high energy and super enthusiastic! The Talkback was fab, with managing director, Rick Hamilton @therickhamilton asking very thoughtful, engaging and insightful questions. I couldn’t have had a better experience. Afterward, many audience members including fellow filmmakers told me how much they enjoyed the film, saying things like: “creative, fun and beautifully shot; a home run,”“wonderful and whimsical,“ “this film was delightful from start to finish.” I feel so honored that our film was chosen to be a part of this stellar film festival.

My Short Comedy Film

 I’m so excited to share my short comedy film, “Such A Deal,” that I co-wrote. 

“Having just arrived in NYC, a mishap leaves Grace without a place to stay for the weekend. Finding a temporary room in a pinch, only to find out that it’s not the “charming tiny room she expected it to be.”

Everything about the making of this film was magical, from start to finish! I feel amazingly lucky to have worked with such a cadre of creative, supportive and inspiring people.

This Travel Writer Is Also A Screenwriter - Early Peek

Many who read my blog may not be aware that I’m also a comedy screenwriter. (I’ve written 17 shorts and 3 feature comedies.)
