A Little Bit of Portugal - in Westchester, NY

As many of you know, Portugal is one of my specialties. So when I found out about gourmet Portuguese cuisine being prepared by the teaming of an American chef with Portuguese roots, Anthony Goncalves, and a well-respected guest chefs from Portugal, including Marco Gomez, I jumped on the next train to Westchester.

I never thought of Westchester, let alone the Ritz Carlton Hotel, as a bastion of well-crafted Portuguese gastronomy. But that's what I recently found and wrote about for the Huffington Post.

I've never had any Portuguese cuisine myself, but I'm sure it must be delightful.

Looks yummy and decadently gourmet. The things you find in Westchester.

Wow! I grew up only about 3 miles from there (it wasn't there at the time!). What a fun night out this would be - or lunch out.

Hi Melanie, I meet a lot of very savvy travelers who've never tried Portuguese cuisine. It's amazingly yummy.

Hi Jane, I know. A real hidden treasure, for sure. I should hang out more in Westchester.

Hi Merr, Cool. Yes, you definitely should check it out. Though, they're only doing the chef collaboration every 8 weeks or so for dinner.

Amazing! Aren't we supposed to think all the food in the suburbs is blah? This looks like it's worth a trip.

Nice to know. I'm not too far from Westchester. Glad I know about this - have to check it out!

Hi Ruth, Absolutely worth a trip. And I know so many Manhattanites who forgo almost any trip to the burbs. See what they're missing?

Hi sheryl, Yes, definitely check it out. You'll love it.

When we lived in Westchester our friends in Manhattan considered it as "upstate." That always made me laugh because it's just a few stops above 125th. The food in Portugal sounds so good.

Hi MyKidsEatSquid, LOL. And, so true. But, then, I have friends who won't travel about 14th Street. Go figure.

MyKids and JTravel - both hilarious and true! As a suburbanite, I'm always excited to hear about a good place close to me, so I won't have to travel below 14th Street to get my fix.

Hi Casey, LOL.
