Bahamas In Pictures - Long Island

Long Island, one of the Bahamas Out Islands, is where I found a low-key, laid-back environ with nothing in the way of shopping malls, water parks, mega resorts or gambling. Instead, I discovered myriad protected coves and short trails to desolate stretches of sand -- features that appeal to nature lovers like myself. Check out my short YouTube video slideshow on this pristine island.

This is lovely. I definitely want to get to the out islands some day - they looks so peaceful and wonderful!

Hi Brette, With the lousy weather we're now having in New York, I'd like to hop on the next flight to this island.

I love the way you choose remote locations that are peaceful and where there are not too many tourists.

I grew up on Long Island...but not this one! Never heard of it, but it certainly sounds like it's worth a trip.

Hi Alexandra, Thanks. I much prefer off-the-beaten-track destinations. They offer so many surprising discoveries.

Hi Sheryl, Long Island in the Bahamas couldn't be more different to the Long Island that I live so close to. here in NY.

Hi Merr, I wish I could've stayed longer.
